Since Windows 10 has been released, there are lot of questions about the upgrade, installation, activation and so on.
How to upgrade to Windows 10?
The update is in optional updates in Windows Update you registered the free update to Windows 10. The time you need for the update depends on your internet connection speed, speed of your computer and the number of data you have.
Where are ISO images available?
You can download ISO images of all Windows 10 versions using Windows 10 Download Tool. In this tool you can also create bootable installation DVD or USB.
What happen after the upgrade? Will all my files be available?
Yes, all of your files and applications will be available after the upgrade process. But it’s recommended to update your apps and mainly drivers to the latest versions compatible with Windows 10.
Who is eligible for the free upgrade?
All of end customers with Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 with a valid Windows license. You can’t upgrade multilicense Windows and Enterprise editions.
Which edition will I have after the upgrade?
You will have the same edition as you had before the upgrade. Windows 10 is available in Home and Pro editions. If you have Windows 7 Starter, Home Basic or Home Premium, or if you have Windows 8.1 or Windows 8.1 with Bing, you will have Windows 10 Home. So as you can see, technically your license will be upgraded if you have Sarter, Home Basic or with Bing, because Windows 10 Home is a higher license 🙂
If you have Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate or Windows 8.1 Pro, you will have Windows 10 Pro.
What is the type of license after the upgrade?
The type of license remains the same. If you had OEM, you will have OEM. If you had retail, you will have retail and so on.
If I will buy a new computer, can I use my old Windows 10 license?
No. If your license wasn’t retail, you can’t transfer the license to a new computer. You have to buy a new license with your new computer.
